Due to jump at 2.30pm this Saturday, the Group 2 Brisbane Cup (2400m) worth $300,000 will from Queenland’s richest day of racing when the AAMI Stradroke Handicap goes ahead at Eagle Farm Racecourse.
The punters’ favourites coming into the race is Tinseltown at $5.50.
While the esteemed $1 million Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) will headline all proceedings, the 2010 Brisbane Cup has drawn a fantastic full field to start in what is lining up to be a thrilling event.
Albertinelli, trained by Clarry Conners has been scratched from Saturday’s race, and having drawn the inside barrier, the former contender has opened up the event for the rest of the field.
The punters’ favourites coming into the race is Tinseltown at $5.50.
In what is a surprising turn in the odds, the barrier seven starter finished in a disappointing sixth place in the Group 3 Premier’s Cup (2200m), but will certainly improve for Saturday.
Another strong contender for the 2010 Brisbane Cup is Persian Star at $6.50 – and the three-from-three mare will be one to watch when she starts from barrier 11.
Indikator, the fifth placed finisher in the Premier’s Cup is another strong stayer and is at $8 for the win, equal in the odds to another inside barrier starter Newport.
Winner of the Premier’s Cup Tabulate has rather long odds at $12 – due to his wide gate, but is still one to watch.
Other Eagle Farm Races going ahead on Saturday will be the Group 1 Queensland Derby (2400m), the Group 1 T.J. Smith (1600m) and the Group 2 Queensland Guineas (1600m).
