Jumping from the barriers well, jockey Craig Williams settled Let’s Make Adeal in prime position on the heels of the Listed Centaurea Stakes’ early leaders; receiving a good run in transit over much of the 2200m running distance before mustering a strong kick to finish close to four lengths in the clear of closest rival Held Hostage.

Understandably thrilled with the effort, trainer Nigel Blackiston told The Advertiser he is eyeing a berth in the 2015 Brisbane Cup for the Red Ransom mare, pending the weather around the Doomben course over the weeks leading up to jump.

“She needs racing room. The plan was to try and have her here in clear running,” Blackiston said of Let’s Make Adeal’s Centaurea Stakes win.

“She’s had plenty of luckless runs in her career so it is always better to have her out in the open.

“It’s nice to get a Stakes wins under her belt.

“We might go for the Brisbane Cup; we’ll just wait and see what the weather does.”

Williams was thrilled with the feel offered up by the five-year-old in her success over the weekend, and is confident she is more than capable of another successful step-up in distance.

“I was a bit worried coming around the turn as I had to give her a couple of digs and she picked up nicely,” Williams said.

“Nigel said to ride her like a good horse and she did the rest.”

Posting a commendable record of three wins and nine minors over 27 career starts so far, Let’s Make Adeal produced several commendable efforts for Blackiston over the 2014 Spring Carnival, highlighted by an impressive third in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m); beating home the likes of subsequent Melbourne Cup champion Protectionist.

Having run a close second in the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m) first-up this time in what was her only other competitive start prior to the Centaurea Stakes, Let’s Make Adeal is primed for 2015 Brisbane Cup success.
